Mann Bracken Demise

by Sonya Smith-Valentine, Valentine Legal Group on January 19, 2010

Mann Bracken, one of the biggest debt collection law firms, has closed down its 24 offices nationwide.  There was little to no warning on the closure.

The chief judge of Maryland’s district court ordered that tens of thousands of debt-collection lawsuits involving the firm be dismissed and state financial regulators revoked its license.

Man Bracken has blamed the company’s closure on the bankruptcy filing of Axiant, a company that handled its support services.  Mann Bracken was Axiant’s largest unsecured creditor.

If you had a deal with Mann Bracken to settle your debt, you may find that your creditor or a subsequent collection agency may not honor your deal – so hold on to any paperwork you may have.  Also, you should contact your creditor directly if you have previously been dealing with Mann Bracken.
