Consumer FDCPA Cases Prompts New Service for Debt Collection Companies

With FDCPA cases against debt collectors hitting a record high in 2008, a new service has appeared for the collection agencies and is attracting a lot of attention from the industry. 

Two new companies (WebRecon LLC and FDCPA Case Listing Service LLC) have begun to offer services to the collection industry.  Both companies operate in a similar fashion.  The companies track cases filed in federal court in an effort to find cases that mention the FDCPA or the FCRA.  Company software compiles the information on the cases and sends it to its collection agency clients periodically.  The companies intend to provide the collection industry with the names of consumers and attorneys that bring FDCPA cases.  There is a particular focus on consumers who have filed multiple lawsuits.  The collection agencies use the information to remove those consumers from their collection efforts and possibly avoiding a lawsuit.
